On September 22nd 2022, our Director of Welding & NDE Engineering, James Bell, signed our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

This Covenant

“is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces,

and their families, are treated fairly.”

Carbon Arc’s promises under the Armed Forces Covenant:

  • Employment support to members of the Armed Forces Community

We promise to support all service personnel who want to train with us.

We promise to work towards greater inclusion of services personnel into our workforce. Additionally, we will support a minimum of 2 weeks paid special leave, to allow those personnel to attend their reservist training commitments.

  • Communications, engagement and outreach:

Carbon Arc will promote the Armed Forces Covenant, the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, and your organisation’s support for the Armed Forces Community to your

  • Staff

  • Customers/service users

  • Supply chains and the wider community

We will support or promote Armed Forces events, such as Armed Forces Day/Week, Reserves Day, the Poppy Appeal and Remembrance activities.

We will engage with and support local Armed Forces charities (for example by supporting their fundraising activities).

We will signpost members of the Armed Forces Community to available support, for example from Cobseo, the Veterans’ Gateway or statutory services in your area.

  • Commercial:

Carbon Arc offer and/or promote commercial discounts for members of the Armed Forces Community via the Defence Discount Service.

We will waive cancellation fees for utility and other contracts for those posted overseas or who are outside the service provision.

We will ensure the Armed Forces Community has fair access to your services and is not put at a disadvantage by their service, for example because of their high mobility.

  • Education:

We will promote training and further/higher education opportunities for Service leavers, ex-Service personnel, and their families.

  • Civic responsibilities:

We will organise, facilitate, promote and/or take part in remembrance and other ceremonial activities.
